Ron is an innkeeper with over 8 years experience in the hospitality industry. He and his lovely wife Eleanor own and operate The Devereaux Shields House Bed and Breakfast in Natchez which they opened in 2005. He is in his 2nd year as President of the Bed & Breakfast Association of Mississippi and previously served as Vice President for 1 year and Treasurer for 3 years. Despite the economy and starting with no business in a city of over 40 B&Bs their business has consistently grown to be rated in the top few in Natchez, MS. Prior to innkeeping as a profession, Ron was a Principle Engineer and Senior Program Manager for over 40 years contributing to advancing combustion and propulsion technology for U.S. industrial and military applications. Ron holds a Bachelor of Science, a Masters of Science and a Professional Engineering Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. He served with distinction as an officer in the Air Force during the late 1970s. Through his experiences Ron learned skills valuable to a successful innkeeper, collaborative teamwork, loves what he does, believes in a vision for the future, curious for seeking best practices, tech-savvy open to learning new things, and action-oriented looking to take things to the next level.
