Rosalie (c 1832)
Rosalie
Rosalie is located on the Mississippi Bluff near the site of the Natchez Indians' massacre of the French at Fort Rosalie. Completed in 1823, the architectural design of the antebellum home became the prototype for later mansions in Natchez and across the South. The design is cubical in nature with two-story columns supporting both a front portico and a rear full-width gallery. It was the headquarters of the Union Army during the War Between the States. This National Historic Landmark is now owned by the Mississippi State Society DAR. Tours every hour 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; Last tour begins at 4:00 p.m. Please call about holiday hours and arrangements for special tours.

Magnolia Grill
magnoliagrill-front-collage
The Magnolia Grill, a favorite eatery of locals and tourists alike, is located on Silver Street in Historic (and somewhat notorious) Natchez Under-the-Hill. Back in the day of the steamship paddle-wheelers, the Under-the-Hill district was home to the roughest groups of folks around – gamblers, prostitutes, drunkards and all types of criminals. Now it consists of only our beloved Silver Street which is home to the Magnolia Grill, the Under-the-Hill Saloon, and the city’s only riverboat casino, as well as a few other historic buildings.

Carriage House Restaurant @ Stanton House
carriage-1
Long famous for its Southern cuisine, The Carriage House Restaurant has been the site of many memorable weddings, rehearsal dinners, receptions and other special events since 1946. In days past, folks clamored for the fried chicken and buttery, silver dollar-sized biscuits. We still serve those staples, but thanks to Chef Bingo Starr our menu is delightfully varied. The Carriage House offers a Blue Plate Special Wednesday through Friday. The specials themselves vary from month to month, but can be generally described in categories; ‘Soup-Salad-Sandwich,’ ‘Southern Comfort Food,’ and ‘Fresh Gulf Seafood.’

Linden
The Conner/Feltus Family has owned Linden since its early days, and has operated the mansion as a bed and breakfast for several decades. Linden's main house dates back to 1790, and the east wing was added in 1818, making it one of the oldest, most historic antebellum homes on tour in Natchez. Magnolia Hall (c 1858)
thumb_Magnolia-Hall_historic_home
Construction on Magnolia Hall is believed to have begun in 1858, as the residence of Thomas Henderson, a Natchez native who became a wealthy cotton broker and merchant. The house was built on the site of the Henderson family home, Pleasant Hill, which was moved one block south to free the lot for the grander, more modern home. The name of the house was inspired by the plaster magnolia blossoms incorporated into the design of the parlor ceiling centerpieces. It was restored by the Natchez Garden Club as a house museum and is operated by the club today.

Old South Winery
Old-South-Winery
It may seem a little unusual to be touting a winery as an attraction in the deep South, but it does exist and it is indeed something to experience. The winery is run by the Galbreath family and the wines are created from Muscadines (an American grape with a European name), grown in a vineyard right outside the facilities back door. After you take the 20 minute tour, the staff will pour you a small sample of each of the products they create from their grapes, so you can see what a treat they really are. The local favorite is a rose' labeled Miss Scarlet.

Natchez State Park

Natchez State Park is located just 10 miles north historic Natchez, the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River. Prior to the Civil War, over half of the millionaires in the entire United States lived in Natchez, constructing elegant mansions unrivaled in size and elegance by any in the nation. Most of these splendid homes were spared during the Civil War, and many are now open for tours.
